Beautiful March Weddings

We met Sarah and Aaron at the Summer Wine Festival at the Performing Arts Center last year.
They were a delightful couple! We soon started talking about their upcoming wedding and ideas started churning.

So for the rehearsal dinner cake (below) they ordered a "House Divided" cake and the Georgia Bulldog side had Red Velvet and the Florida Gator side had Orange Dreamsicle, so even the cake was divided! We aim to please.

Sarah and Aaron had so many beautiful elements they wanted incorporated into their wedding cake. The flowers, all sugar, were to be patterned after Sarah's bouquet. They liked the pattern in Aaron's tie. Each detail was carefully noted and soon a sketch of their cake took life.

The flower inspiration came from Sarah's bouquet from Harmony Gardens. ALL the flowers on their cake are "handmade sugar flowers" by KB.

So Sarah and Aaron's wedding cake was truly a Masterpiece, with each tier different, the top tier was patterned after Aaron's tie, the second a beautiful quilted pattern with edible pearls, soft scroll work and three dot pattern complete with sunset color exotic sugar flowers! Gorgeous!!

The stand was even handmade by friends for Sara and Aaron. We love our clients and making KB's be the sweet ending to their dream wedding is always a pleasure! We wish Sarah and Aaron a long and happy life together!

Monkey Business

I love it when I get a call and told a theme and then..."just have fun with it"....I did!!!

Jess ordered a shower cake for her sister. The nursery is all done in monkeys!! I went on line, checked out her gift registry, gathered my thoughts and went to work.

And this is what I came up with!

I can't wait to see what they did with the nursery!!!!

We wish Mommy, Daddy...and Auntie, the very best as they welcome their precious little fellow to the world!

If you haven't seen Masterpiece Weddings blog today, you have to! IT is awesometastic!!

I apologize for the lack of blogging lately. I have been a little under the weather and my mom KB was in a car accident this past week. She is ok but sore. Big things in the future for KB's so stay tuned! Awesome weddings coming up this Spring.

Urban Meyer Scramble For Kids Dessert Sponsor is KB's Kake Kreations!

Kids are a gift!!! One of God's greatest gifts! So, when we got the call to help with Urban Meyer's Scramble for Kid's it was an easy decision!!! The Scramble involves a dinner, an auction, and golfing!!! The beneficiaries are the Boys and Girls Club, The Children's Home Society and the Girls Place. What an honor to be asked to help 3 such deserving Charities.


I wanted our display cake to reflect the kids, the logos, golfing and the Gators. It was so much fun to create. I was so pleased to send 4 special men off for a day of golfing and fun in the sun!

Erika was able to get our poster from a previous charity event signed by Coach Meyer! Great people, great charities, great opportunity. Thank you all!

KB's looks forward to supporting these charities through the Urban Meyer Scramble for Kids as the Dessert Sponsor for years to come.

KB's Gives Back

So I know you all have been waiting to see the infamous pictures of the Extreme Makeover Home Edition Cake. The wait is up! We can finally show you what KB's did while the team was in town back in December. Below are pictures of "The Unfinished House Cake" and some photos from the party.

KB's also had the opportunity to bring her Gourmet Kake Truffles to the Crew on set they loved them. It was nice to be able to do something special for all the people who helped out a deserving family with a new home. They worked all hours of the day and night for seven days straight and we were happy to bring them something sweet to keep them going. :)
So make sure you watch The Wagstaff Home Reveal on the show this evening on ABC at 8:00pm. KB's will be at one of the Viewing Parties in town.

Valentine's Day Mass Wedding

Last Sunday, February 14th on Valentine's Day Wind FM sponsored an event like Gainesville has not seen before. There were about 30 couples that were either saying their I Do's or renewing their vows at the Hippodrome Downtown. Many vendors from Gainesville and surrounding areas got involved. KB's was there with her famous Gourmet Kake Truffles for each happy couple!



Hunter from Wind FM had this to say: "OMG! Your truffles are incredible! So moist, so rich- I love them! I'm sure our couples enjoyed them, too."


We were glad we could be a part of so many couple's special day!

A Beautiful "Night at the Museum" Wedding

KB's did their first wedding at The Florida Museum of Natural History. To say it was a scenery change would be an understatement! How many couples can say they danced under Mammoth Bones at their Reception? What a different and unique idea.

Celebrations catering created the ambiance with their decor and linens along with Prange's Florist and gorgeous flowers and they also provided the food. While KB's Kake Kreations had a beautiful 4 tiered wedding cake with a hand made chocolate orchid on top and a yummy chocolate grooms cake topped with fresh berries and of course, more chocolate. Mmmm


Look for KB's Kake Kreations coming up at "Puttin on the Ritz" on March 28th which will be held at the Florida Museum of Natural History!

Who is KB's?

I came across this article recently published in the Gainesville Magazine featuring KB's Kake Kreations. A portion of it is below.

But for those of you who were wondering who KB's really is her name is Kathy Blandford. She is the Sole Owner and Creator of KB's Kake Kreation's. Everything she touches spells perfection.

That is why Bride's named her their pick of the Knot for 2008 and 2009 and also the Bride's Choice Award for 2010. Kathy takes her clients ideas and turns them into a beautiful work of art in the form of a cake.


I am honored to know such a woman and to be able to work with her but I am extremely proud to be her daughter!

Confection perfection

"I feel like I'm a part of the wedding. It has to be perfect, on time and my very best every time," says Blandford.

A former cosmetologist and an accountant for Camp Kulaqua by day, Blandford craves the hands-on indulgences of cake decorating. From the 98-inch, seven-tiered mountain cake she created at the beginning of her career seven years ago to the specialty truffle cakes she makes today, Blandford gushes with excitement over each cake creation.

"To be able to be part of an event that is so special and so big is something that I not only enjoy, but take very seriously when I'm doing my work," she says.

Blandford's one-woman team requires perfection for each cake, even for those last-minute orders.

KB's has participated in events and charities such as: Let's Eat Cake for Cancer, SIDS Angel's Dinner, The Summer Wine Festival to benefit The Peforming Arts, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, and most recently Urban Meyer's Scramble for Kids where KB's is the NEW DESSERT SPONSOR!

Footstone: After the Reveal

February 4 was the day of the Reveal for Footstone Photography. After the paint dried, the hole in the wall turned into a room and all the furniture was in place, Footstone Photography had a facelift.



Here at KB's we were happy to be a part of the New Footstone, with their custom designed Footstone Cake and Gourmet Kake Truffles at the party. When we talked to Kristin and saw the swatch of the new Footstone color Kathy's creative design mind went to work.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and here at KB's the Kakery is going full steam ahead rolling out Gourmet Kake Truffles.

So this Sunday, KB's will be giving out Gourmet Kake Truffles to Happy couples that are either renewing their vows or getting married at the Hippodrome. Wind FM is sponsoring a Mass Wedding. How sweet! And what a perfect day to pledge your love to one another.

The Hipp Wedding

We booked a bride today from the Gainesville Wedding Expo. Talking with her was such a delight. She told me that she had not tasted wedding cake that was good enough to remember for 15 years until she tasted ours. That made me smile. I love our brides!

After speaking with her I learned that the Hippodrome is now available for Wedding Receptions. They have completely transformed their basement. Pictures are below.

So we are happy to inform you that our next Gourmet Kake Truffle Wedding Cake will be at the Hipp.


And of course there will be pictures of the latest Gourmet Kake Truffle Wedding Cake up on the blog after the Wedding.
